Our story
How Ivanhoe Kennels began

What has not changed is the scale. We keep a number of greyhounds we can look after properly ourselves, and we would rather do a small job well than a large one at arm's length.
The name on the racing jacket matters to us. Running as Ivanhoe Kennels means the dog has been prepared honestly, is fit to run, and is going home to the same care afterwards.

Daily life
A day at Ivanhoe Kennels
The routine is unglamorous, and that is rather the point. Consistency is what keeps a greyhound well.
First round
Kennels opened up, every dog seen individually, feet and coats checked, any overnight change noted.
Turnout and work
Free galloping and walking, set to each dog's programme, with weights recorded.
Feeding and rest
Individual feeding, grooming, and quiet time in clean, dry, well-bedded kennels.
Last round
A final turnout and check on every dog before the kennel is settled for the night.

What we stand for
Our approach
The dog comes first
Entries, trials and rest are decided by what is right for the greyhound. A dog that is not right does not run, whatever the meeting.
Honest communication
Owners get the real picture — including the setbacks. We would rather deliver disappointing news early than good news that isn't true.
Care you could inspect
Clean kennels, sound feeding, and records kept properly. We are happy for owners to see how their dog lives, by arrangement.
Responsibility for life
A greyhound's retirement is planned while it is still racing, not left until the day it stops.
