A small kennel, run by a family, for the good of the dogs
Ivanhoe Kennels is run by and family from . Every greyhound in the kennel is known individually — how they eat, how they train, how they travel and what they need on a quiet day.
We keep numbers at a level we can genuinely manage ourselves, because attentive care is not something that can be delegated to a rota. Owners hear from us honestly, whether the news is good or disappointing.

Training and welfare
Preparation built around the individual dog
No two greyhounds are prepared in the same way. Work, rest, feeding and travel are set by what each dog shows us, and adjusted as often as needed.
A greyhound only runs when it is right to run. If a dog needs a week off, it gets a week off — and the owner is told why.
Daily routine
Individual feeding, weight monitoring, grooming, turnout and quiet time, every day of the year.
Race preparation
Measured work, trial runs and recovery, planned around the dog rather than the calendar.

Take a share in the sport
Owning a racing greyhound — on your own, with friends or through a syndicate — is a way to be properly involved in the sport and to take responsibility for a dog's wellbeing throughout its life.

An honest word. Greyhound ownership should be entered into for the enjoyment and the involvement, not as a financial investment. Prize money rarely covers costs, and no kennel can promise results. What we do promise is that your dog will be well looked after and that you will always be told the truth.
Retirement and rehoming
Every dog's racing career has an ending. We plan for it.
A greyhound's life after racing matters as much as the racing itself. Retirement at Ivanhoe Kennels is planned in advance, not arranged in a hurry, and no dog leaves the kennel until there is a home we are confident in.
Owners are involved in that decision, and we keep in touch with the homes our dogs go to wherever we can.
Still to be confirmed: the rehoming organisations Ivanhoe Kennels works with will be named here once those relationships are confirmed in writing.
